This most recent holiday season, Genesis of Smyrna had the privilege of sponsoring the annual Shop with a Cop Marietta and Smyrna event. As a long-time member of this community, we believe this incredible event is just one way of giving back to the community that has given us so much. With humble beginnings, Shop with a Cop began years ago with a few police officers buying gifts and taking them to the homes of eight families in need. It has since grown to serve more and more families in need each year, with more than 25 years of giving.

Each year, Marietta and Smyrna schools help identify families in need before the holidays and local police officers, civilians, and volunteers help children with a holiday shopping spree. The children are driven on school buses to local Targets, Walmarts, and other retailers. With a volunteer helper, they are given $200+ to choose something for themselves including clothing, shoes, socks, jackets, as well as finding the perfect gift for their family members.

During a year when inflation and cost of living impacted families so significantly, this event, funded fully by donations throughout the year, is a way for kids and their families to enjoy gifts they wouldn't otherwise have been able to enjoy.

We believe in supporting our community in any way we can. Sponsoring the Shop with a Cop event is just one way to make the holidays a little brighter for those who need it most.
